Global Warming

The United States should never ratify the Kyoto Treaty. Not because it's against our interests, but because it's based on junk science.

Any argument based on a few decades or even centuries of climate change make as much since as declaring the sun is falling into the ocean based on an evening observation of the sun moving lower. Global warming is part of a cycle that has been in place for millions of years. The Vostok Ice Core project in Antarctica contains a precise record of 4 cycles in the past 500,000 years. See http://cdiac.esd.ornl.gov/trends/co2/vostok.htm.

This graph shows to CO2 concentrations of air samples that have bee trapped in the ice over a period of over 400,000 years.

All you really need to know about global warming is that it's part of a warming and cooling cycle that had been occurring for millions of years. It's a 125,000 year cycle. Of course the earth is getting warmer, the last ice age ended 12,000 years ago. We're still in the warming part of the cycle.

Trying to use recent temperature records to proove global warming is man made is like trying to proove that a rooster crowing causes the sun to rise.

Paeleoligic evidence, although not as precise as the ice core, also indicates a cycle that originated long before the beginning of human existence. Whose automobiles were causing global warming then? Any conclusion based on climate change over periods shorter than 250,000 years is misleading.

What will implementing Kyoto actually accomplish? Reversing global warming? Nonsense! Slowing it down? Not to any noticeable extent.

What the implementation of Kyoto would actually accomplish, and what I believe is it's actual intent, is to create the so-called "Carbon Market" that will require us to pay billions of dollars to countries that have surplus quota. Kyoto is not about preventing global warming, it's about money. It's about wealth transfer. Want more evidence? Do you think it's a coincidence that Kyoto's biggest supporters have always favored wealth transfer?

If a group of individuals did what the the Kyoto politicians are doing, they would be accused of attempting to commit fraud. The global warming politicians deserve no better.
